My personal choice for home computers are custom built (preferably by me!).  The reason for this is simple, you get what you want not what some marketing director thinks you need! Besides that all of the name brand systems are generally cheaply made and not made for the long haul. 

I recommend and use ASUS motherboards, Intel CPUs, Western Digital and Maxtor hard drives.  LG Electronics for CD and DVD re-writers, Nvidia and  ATI Radeon for video cards.  Sony, Samsung and Panasonic LCD panels and CRTmonitors.

For those wanting the best in laptops I recommend Toshiba.

Presently I am running seven systems networked on a Linksys wireless and wired network using MS Windows XP Pro.  For virus and malware control I use Computer Associates E-Trust anti-virus and Adaware SE and Spybot Search and Destroy.  I am using several Epson 1280 printers along with their R300 for CD/DVD printing.  I also have several Canon printers which usually are  the  most economical for ink.  My systems range from a dual PIII server to several 3.6 P4 Extreme systems.
